The Smithfield Police
Department
proudly
celebrates 60 years of service as a permanent
law enforcement agency. This
anniversary insignia was inspired by the patch
worn by officers from 1950 to 1973, when the
Department was housed within the Smithfield Town
Hall. The original patch design, typical of
most Rhode Island police departments at the
time, was later replaced by a depiction of the
current police station, built in 1972. |
In recognition of this important
anniversary, commemorative lapel pins have been created
and are for sale at a cost of only $5.00 each. If you
are interested in purchasing a lapel pin, please feel
free to stop by headquarters at 215 Pleasant View
Avenue, Smithfield, Monday – Friday, between 8:00 am &
4:00 pm. You may also forward a $5.00 check (made
payable to Smithfield Police Department Memorial),
along with a self-addressed stamped envelope,
to Smithfield Police Department, 215 Pleasant View
Avenue, Smithfield, Rhode Island 02917 – Attention to
