2008 “High School” Citizens’ Police
Academy
The Smithfield Police Department is now
accepting applications for enrollment into the Department’s “High
School” Citizens’ Police Academy, which consists of an 8-week law
enforcement program designed for high school juniors and seniors.
Participants will meet on Monday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the
Smithfield Police Department.
The High School Citizens’ Police
Academy will start Monday, March 10,
2008. Each week, a different law enforcement topic will be
presented, with classroom and hands-on instruction by police officers.
This Academy is offered free-of-charge to
Smithfield High School students or Smithfield residents attending
another school. Seating is limited and will be on a
first-come-first-served basis. Seniors will be given preference
but juniors are strongly encouraged to apply. If you have any
questions, please contact School Resource Officer Joseph Marcello at
231-2500 ext. 30. Applications are available at the High School
main office, Smithfield Police Department or below.
Completed applications should be
returned to the Smithfield High School main office or the Smithfield
Police Department by Monday, March 3, 2008.
