Patrol Officer Kevin A. Proulx 

Patrol Officer Kevin A. Proulx began his law enforcement career in 1987, as a reserve officer. He was appointed as a full-time police officer on August 20, 1989, and served twelve years in the Patrol Division. Officer Proulx graduated from Community College of Rhode Island, where he received an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. While working in the Patrol Division, Officer Proulx received two commendations and numerous letters of recognition for outstanding police work. On October 7, 2001, he was transferred into the Community Policing Unit where he now serves as the elementary school DARE Officer. When off duty, Officer Proulx enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. His other interests include fishing, scuba diving, biking and coaching youth sports.
 


Patrol Officer Robert N. Squillante 

Patrol Officer Robert N. Squillante was appointed as a full-time police officer on August 3, 1993, after graduating from the RI Municipal Police Academy. He has been assigned to the patrol division for nine years and currently serves as one of the department’s Field Training Officers. Officer Squillante is a 1985 graduate of Smithfield High School where he was a member of the soccer, football, and baseball teams. He continues to participate in school activities as the girls soccer and boys baseball coach. He attended the Community College of Rhode Island and enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Officer Squillante is a big Boston Red Sox fan.
 


Patrol Officer Christopher J. Taylor 

Patrol Officer Christopher J. Taylor was appointed as a full-time police officer on December 12, 1998, after graduating from the RI Municipal Police Academy. Officer Taylor is currently assigned to the Patrol Division, first shift. Earlier in his career, he worked second and third shifts. Officer Taylor is also a member of the Department’s Honor Guard. He graduated from Salve Regina University where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Administration of Justice. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Administration of Justice at Salve Regina University. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
 


Patrol Officer Orlando D. Braxton

Patrol Officer Orlando Braxton was appointed as a full-time police officer on December 3, 1999, after graduating for the Rhode Island Municipal Police Training Academy. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division, third shift. Early in his career, he worked both second and first shifts. Patrol Officer Braxton participated in the police recruitment process for new officers earlier this year. Before joining the police department, he attended Anna Maria College, where he earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. While attending Anna Maria College, he was the Senior Class President and worked for the Admissions and Athletic Departments. He is currently attending Roger Williams University pursuing a Masters Degree in the Administration of Justice.
 


Patrol Officer Cory M. Carpenter 

Patrol Officer Cory M. Carpenter was appointed as a full-time police officer on June 30, 2000, after graduating from the RI Municipal Police Academy. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice, with a minor in Spanish, from Salve Regina University. Officer Carpenter is currently assigned to the third shift patrol division. While off duty, he enjoys surfing, fishing and working on his 1966 Volkswagen Dune Buggy.
 


Patrol Officer Michael M. McCoy 

Patrol Officer Michael M. McCoy was appointed as a full-time police officer on November 30, 2001, after graduating from the RI Municipal Police Academy. Officer McCoy also graduated in May of 2000 from Salve Regina University, where he majored in the Administration of Justice. While a freshman at Salve Regina, he started at the defensive end position on the varsity football team. He also worked as an intern for the RI State Police and tutored at the RI Training School for Juveniles. In his spare time, Officer McCoy enjoys spending time with his family and friends. Some of his hobbies include: hockey, football, skiing, and spending time outdoors.
 


 

Patrol Officer Scott V. Hopkins

Patrol Officer Scott V. Hopkins was appointed as a full-time police officer on June 28th, 2002, after graduating from the RI Municipal Police Academy. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Officer Hopkins graduated from Johnston High School in 1995 and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Assumption College in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1999. He played Division II college football and started at the center position during all four years of college. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends and is an avid football fan.
 


Patrol Officer Jeffrey A. Scott

Patrol Officer Jeffrey A. Scott was appointed as a full-time patrol officer on June 28, 2002, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division. Officer Scott is a 1996 graduate of Lincoln High School where he played a variety of sports, including hockey football and indoor and outdoor track. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Springfield College in December of 2000. He placed 11th in the Division III Nationals for the Hammer Throw while in college. In his spare time, he enjoys hammer throwing and weight training.


Patrol Officer Gregg L. Catlow, II

Patrol Officer Gregg L. Catlow, II was appointed as a full-time police officer on November 27th, 2002, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He grew up in Smithfield, where he graduated from Smithfield High School and played varsity hockey. Officer Catlow holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University, where he graduated in 2002.  He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at Salve Regina University.

 


Patrol Officer Dawn M. Pagan 

Patrol Officer Dawn M. Pagan was appointed as a full-time police officer on November 27th, 2002, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. She is also a member of the Smithfield Search & Rescue Team. In high school, she participated in many sports, including soccer and volleyball and attended the World Scholar-Athlete Games in 1997. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and was a member of the University Equestrian Team for two years. In the future, Officer Pagan hopes to pursue a second Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice or Spanish.


Patrol Officer Paul J. Gorman

Patrol Officer Paul J. Gorman was appointed as a full time police officer on November 27, 2002, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He has been assigned to the patrol division and is currently working on the third shift. In 1993 he received the highest rank in the Boy Scouts of America, Eagle Scout. Officer Gorman is a 1995 graduate of West Warwick High School where he received several All State awards for playing football, wrestling and baseball. He received an Associates of Science Degree in Law Enforcement from CCRI in 1997. In 2001 Officer Gorman received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Law Enforcement and a concentration in psychology from Johnson & Wales University.


Patrol Officer Peter J. DiMarco 

Patrol Officer Peter J. DiMarco was appointed as a full-time police officer on March 12, 2004, after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.  Officer DiMarco graduated from Western New England College in 1996 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Government. While attending Western New England College, he played four years of football. When off duty, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends.


Patrol Officer Paul “Mike” Gilmore

Patrol Officer Mike Gilmore was sworn-in as a member of the Smithfield Police Department on November 24th, 2004, after graduating 2nd out of 39 in his class from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He was named the recipient of the Bud Shannon Leadership Award. He is a 1992 graduate of Johnston High School where he was Captain of the basketball team and a member of the baseball team. He was also named to the All-Division Baseball Team in his senior year. In 1997, he received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Hartford where he was also a member of the baseball team. Prior to becoming a police officer, he was a correctional officer for 5˝ years with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections and a member of their Emergency Response Team. He is married and has three children.

Patrol Officer David M. Walsh

Patrol Officer David M. Walsh was appointed as a Smithfield Police Officer on November 24th, 2004 after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He is 1998 graduate of East Providence High School where he was a member of the Rhode Island Honor Society. He was also an All-Star Baseball player. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Justice Studies from Rhode Island College in 2003.


Patrol Officer Thomas J. Coleman

Patrol Officer Thomas J. Coleman was appointed as a Smithfield Police Officer on November 23, 2005 after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.  He is a 1995 graduate of Burrillville High School and graduated from Rhode Island College in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry.  Officer Coleman has also attained the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America.
     


Patrol Officer Kerrin A. D’Agnelli

Patrol Officer Kerrin A. D'Agnelli was appointed as a Smithfield Police Officer on November 23, 2005 after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.  She is a 2001 graduate of Natick, MA High School and in 2005 received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Administration of Justice from Salve Regina University.  where she also competed on the women's varsity soccer team.  Officer D'Agnelli also served previously as an intern with the Warwick Police Department Accreditation Unit.
     


Patrol Officer Carson L. Orellana, Jr.

Patrol Officer Carson L. Orellana, Jr. was appointed as a Smithfield Police Officer on November 23, 2005 after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.   He is a graduate of Nantucket, MA High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with a minor in Political Science.  He has also served as an interpreter and guide for the Nantucket Historical Association and has traveled extensively throughout European countries and Central America.
 


Patrol Officer Neil A. Marcoccio

Patrol Officer Neil A. Marcoccio was appointed as a Smithfield Police Officer on November 23, 2005 after graduating from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy.   He is a graduate of Lincoln High School and a 2004 graduate of Roger Williams University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice.  In college, he served internships with the Newport Police Department and the Rhode Island State Police.  Also in college, he worked in the public safety office as a dispatcher and was certified in first aid, CPR and scuba diving.
 


 

Patrol Officer Jason A. Corser

Patrol Officer Jason A. Corser was appointed as a full-time police officer on December 1, 2007, after graduating 3rd out of 46 in his class from the Rhode Island Municipal Police Academy. He is a 1999 graduate of Portsmouth High School and a 2003 graduate of the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. In 2005, he received a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice from Roger Williams University. He is currently assigned to the Patrol Division.
