The Smithfield Police Department is offering a 5-week, female
self-defense course. This course is offered free of charge to town
residents or business owners in Smithfield, 18 years of age or older.
Registration forms are available at the Smithfield Police Department or
in downloadable .pdf format

Classes will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
starting on January 31st, 2008. Seating is limited and
will be on a first-come-first-served basis. The deadline date for
enrollment is Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008.
WHAT IS COMMON
SENSE SELF-DEFENSE?
This self-defense course for adult females
is not intended to turn participants into martial art experts; rather,
it is geared to educate participants on how to avoid being targeted and
what action to take if selected as a victim.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Rui Rodrigues, owner of the Martial Arts
Fitness Center, has been selected to instruct this self-defense course,
which will run for five (5) sessions to be held on Thursday evenings,
January 31st, February 7th, 14th,
21st, and February 28th, 2008 from 6:30 p.m. to
8:00 p.m. To enroll, applicants must complete the attached
Registration Form. An Authorization for Release of Liability
and Information Form must be completed at the first meeting.
Applicants will receive notification informing them of their acceptance
once their application has been processed. Seating is limited and will
be on a first-come-first-serve basis. Participants must be town
residents or business owners and at least 18 years of age.
